Is it possible to keep a Dovii and a Managuense together in a 180gal tank?

I've tried to keep two different equal size Jags with my Dovii in a 265g and he would have killed both if I didn't take them out.

I have them both in my 90g. Little bit of scuffles. Depends on the fish itself. You can check it out in the video lounge.

How big are they? Are they mature? Link to vid in video lounge?

It's possible while they are smaller but things will more than likely go sour sooner than later. Eventually the Dovii will need that 180g to himself.

I agree with you greenterra.

Thanks guys. I'm probably gonna keep the Dovii by himself in the tank. I love both kinds, but it sounds too risky.

On another forum, I was told that a Dovii should never be kept in anything less than 240gal. What's your opinion?

If you get them both as babies they will coexist for a while in my opinion, but evetually there will be carnage and eventually a death.

I'm surprised no one flamed him for overstocking the crap out of the tank.

"My 2 Dovii's, Red devil,Midas cichlid,ZZ flowerhorn, 2 oscars and more...."

Guys ...come on...2 fish? Its obvious thats its not gonna work...If there were a bunch of them but two? One will ALWAYS dominate the other...I suggest you put way more fish or its not gonna work long term....Rival fish need distraction from each other. People are very curious to know how do I keep discus and angels with texas, oscars, sevs..Its simple...Why the tex is gonna chase an innocent discus when he can chase may jd? Same thing here...If the jag is the only enemy, he will get owned and vice versa...Two fish setup is most of the times a recipe for disaster... But that is just my humble opinion...

Doviid are the one of the most aggresive cichlids and can reach up to 2' in length if kept right. Doviis are known to go on sprees where they shred everything in there tank and even go after there owners.

And for that guy with all the fish in there, ARE YOU NUTS!!! Even for a growout thats is way overstocked. And for full grown fish i would say all that in a 300g tank is still hecktic... but thats just my $0.02

You are probably right...We dont have doviis here in Brazil so I can't be sure ...BUT, years ago, before MFK, in other forums, they would say that a oscar couldn't live with other fish and a CA/SA community would never work. Mixing red devls with other fish? No way...Jags? Killers...And we all know thats a lie. So, i think, maybe there's a chance that a community with a dovii could work.

all depends on sex of the 2 fish i have 2 dovii/jaguar crosses crazy fish the mom and dad lived together fine with no problems but ive found it almost impossible to keep males in the dovii jag family to live together unless the tanks were huge. and also where are all these huge dovii cause i see people with some huge tanks and seems like there fish get no bigger than the fish in smaller tanks. not advocating smaller tanks just want to see the huge dovii out there
