Dovii Breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are you sure they were eaten? The reason I ask is because a lot of fish will move the fry as they hatch from the where the eggs were layed. Check around the tank you may be pleasantly surprised. Just a thought, I may be wrong.

Pretty sure. There were 10 eggs left. That hatched 3 days later. They should have all hatched at once right? They weren't guarding any fry anywhere either I checked. Did a water change with a syphon too and check the bucket thoroughly before dumping the water too

Pretty normal for dovii to eat the eggs on their first couple of breeding attempts. Mine did the same thing their first time. They'll get it right eventually, I wouldn't worry about it.

Agreed. My Festae eats the whites(unfertilized) and moves the wigglers to a spawning pit about 3 feet from where she lays the eggs. I thought she ate them all first time, but about 4-5 days later, we had a large cloud of fry.

Beautiful Dovii either way! They look great!
