Dovii color question

What size are your guys dovii? Watching my costa rican grow he has much more of a compact body then the nics from what im noticing, but i seldom see very many costa ricans

Nics do get deeper bodies. Its cause costa ricans inhabit shallower waters in the wild while ricans are mostly in more shallow waters. I have a big 18" nic male and a costa rican female. I also have a male about 11" that is an offspring from them and he ended up with the nic body with more rican colors.

OP, dovii can definatly change color frequently. Mine alot of times even change color when feeding. As long as all your water params are good the color change is just normal dovii.

There is a definite difference between the 2. I currently have a 20" Costa Rican Blue, and a 9" Costa Rican Gold. Here is a video of my fish room, sorry its so long, but its the only thing recent I have that shows my guys.

love that beast Madness, definitly mine is a smaller version of yours. Mine has to be about 10 to 12 inch long but a good 6inch from back to belly lol. Sorry to derail your thread OP

Dovii's colors can vary greatly. Look at the range my old Dovii had..

Mine looks like the first pic just a little smaller. I can't believe the difference in the 3rd. Whats your water change schedule like? What are everybody's tank sizes? Could mine already feel cramped in a 75 with all the other fish?

My pair is in a 285gal, I would venture to guess that your male is probably in need of a larger tank. I had my pair for the longest time in a 120gal square, 4x2x2, it worked real well. If you are unable to get a larger tank, then put the dovii in the 75 alone. The only thing that would concern me, is IME once a fish is comfortable being alone, it soon becomes use to it and doesnt play well with others if you decide to give him a friend. ;)
