Dovii discussion

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its amazing with all the info on here about Dovii and people still ask if ypu can keep An apex predator with OTHER fish lol. I would compare it to 2 inch red devil with tetras, it might work for a while. Mad wolf fyi a 220 is no different then a 180 when keeping a BIG cichlid. Foot print is what matters in the Monsterfish Game.

Wen it comes to tanks of this size 70 gallons can mean that it's just a couple inches wider and a couple inches taller. All depends on the foot print

Isn't this site called "Monster Fishkeepers"? The "Game" that's been said is keeping "monsters" in large tanks of water that are obviously too small than their wild habitats? This talk of footprints is silly, I get it but c'mon!? Really!? Get a 2000 gallon tank or use your swimming pool as your more realistic footprint if you wanna house a few "Monsters" together. Sound about right?

its just that there is no chance of keeping a full grown dovii with tankmates besides a female unless its in a giant tank, try it, throw in a nother fish in your tank your dovii will most likely kill it. I have my pair in a 180 and they wont even let a pleco live with them its just the way these fish are they will kill everything

Probably won't try it Jagster, and if I do I definitely won't post that I did. Not on this site anyways. Don't wanna be listed as cruel, or god forbid criminal! on a site called MonsterFishkeepers.

Why?
You already have gotten tons of information from people with years of experience with them. You know the outcome. One way or another, enough time, the dovii will kill all, or die trying.
That is set in stone, it may not happen now or 5 years from now, but it will happen one day.
If you're going to do it, post it here, many do already and we enjoy seeing it.
You asked, and the information given to you is good and relevant, what you do with it is up to you.
Either way, I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do. None of these fish are meant to live in any tank, so you are right about that.

For the record, I'm new at keeping Dovii yes. I also have never owned a tank bigger than a 120 gallon. I am however no stranger to keeping big cichlids and Large catfish. I have been into this hobby for almost 20 years. I'm not suggesting any tank mates for my particular Dovii. I'm only saying a 250 gallon tank of larger cichlids would work much better than a 120, 180, or even a 200. It may work, then again it may not. Won't know for sure until you try.

You are Me....before I ever owned a Dovii...listen and take Future You's advice ;)
