jags have red eyes, his eyes are black

not all jags have red eyes, some are brown. not saying i'm right about the ID, just making a point about their eyes lol. anyway, yeah he's probably one of the runts of the litter

You have got to be kidding me man, I know we're new to MFK but we must not be that new to the hobby.

JAGUAR, Parachromis Managuensis, You can tell by the patterns on the body and its 'underbite mouth' (like a Betta). Dovii's that small will have one black lateral line from eye to tail, and its mouth (upper/bottom lips are the same length)
