Dovii growout thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dude, I'm not talking about the big bags, that small bag cost me $30 :/
Ouch, Hikari decent cheap here too, NLS is the most expensive brand here.
I don't stick with 1 brand diet. I mixed altogether NLS, Tetra, Hikari, Algae pellet (yes, even my fish are predator I still feed them some green), and Hikari pure-bio load frozen product 1 time per week for Juv. stock and community tank, for big fish I feed MP stuffed with listed above pellets.

lol, your sure they where 0.5-0.7 inch like you said in my thread? they look 1-1.5 easy dude!-)
its about update pic time aint it, I wanna see the bacon fed steroid heads:p

Hey all, as some of you would know I have recently purchased some baby dovii! They're are extremely tiny about 1-1.5 inches and very skittish. Sorry for the terrible video, I couldn't take photos as they are always hiding while I'm next to the tank (yes they are that skittish!) and my camera is cooked rn. There is already some dominance being displayed by a couple of them and especially one who is a lot bigger than the others and the current 'king'! They are taking hikari gold pellets crushed up currently and are eating extremely well, I also have chucked in a few baby guppies which have been demolished lol. I picked them up last Tuesday so. They've been in the tank only for a few days. Hoping to see some growth on these guys and will post updates regularly! They're currently growing out in an4x2x2 120gal until the 8x2.5x2 (300gal?) finishes its cycle. (Wifi is very slow will upload video soon)
Cheers, Tom

I remember a couple years ago I bought a 3 in dovii and put it in my 125 cichlid community (impulse buy..I'll advised) within a week he was staring me down and testing his teeth on the glass habitually. Some of the fish in the tank were my dads at the time I just remember one day I'm upstairs and I hear my dad turn the lights on in the tank to look at them he goes "this motherf**ker turned my convict into shredded wheat! Wtf! Get rid of this son a b*tch" he was pissed. His convict didn't look too good but he pulled through. Gave him away and that's my only experience owning dovii, even at 3 inches they can be hell on wheels. Cool fish but not for everyone lol good luck with him

Got a quick update, they've been in a pond and I just moved moved them back to the tank, so they're a bit shy but I've tried tried to get a good pic of all 4.

First 4 pics are of the same fish which has currently the nicest colours,
Pic 5 is of the almost definant female who is the smallest of the bunch but no one touches her
Pic 6 is the 3rd of the picking order but has some nice blues coming through the fins which I couldn't get as was taking some really quick pics
Pic 7 is the dominant male who still is pretty much colourless and is very camera shy, hence the bad shot

I'm pretty sure I have 1 female and 3 males, otherwise it's 2 and 2. Thoughts?

Any thoughts? I've separated them all now due to aggression, but got a potential male and female divided. I will get some more pics tonight
