similar, he is a little character too, most dovii are nervous wrecks at this size lol.

I had been told that about JD'S but mine isn't nervous at all, in fact I can put my hand in the tank and he'll just look at me like "really bro" it's only 2-3" and I have had him for around 4 days.

I think we assume they are all going to be like X but as most cichlids are more intelligent than other fish the can develop their own unique personality. I'm not saying that a certain type of show signs of a typical behaviour but I do believe that each individual cichlid has a different personality due to many different things like environment, tank size etc. For instance I had an Oscar that was super aggressive, he killed all his tank mates because he could, he would smash them up against the glass and just leave them for dead, not to mention destroying many heaters etc. Everyone kept trying to tell me Oscars are big puppies.
