Dovii or Peacock bass???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
best way of achieving this is giving the dovii a tank for itself. if you have a spare
tank sitting around why not set it up and keep it separated to watch each fish's
behavior and etc.
He does come out from his log at times, usally only to chase the bass away from getting to close and to eat. But any other time it he sits in his log. I have a divider so might put that up, its only a matter of time before he takes out the bass. He has already killed 2 other tank mates

honestly if i was in your shoes i would choose the dovii over the bass like i stated before.
unless its a really rare bass. but common xingus, ocell, tem, azul & etc < dovii jmo though.

Its just a mono bass.

id rather keep the dovii 100% hands down. down the road when they hit the 12"+ scale
it'll definitely by more enjoyable and entertaining to keep and watch imo. not to mention
more colorful especially if its a male dovii.

No worries thanks for your advice.

Question for you: is it possible for his spots to fade if he is unsettled? Cause when i first got him he was covered in spots already at like 2-3" had him in a 90g tank for a bit and only moved him to the 150g a few days ago. Now his spots have faded and im stressing he may be a she and I dont wabt a female. I chose it out of the rest because it stood out with the most colour, had pointed fins and covered with spots, I cetain that I had picked a male. Even the lad at the lfs said 'yeah definatley a male'

im not sure, do you have a picture?

Looks male to me... Just keep em both, you obviously like both fish... Set up Second hand tank or even a koi holding tank for one. Anyone can afford to setup a less asthetic setup if they really want too, no excuses that tanks are so expensive and all that shiz...

Dots in Un paired fins says male, does the lateral line break up and dissappear at times when he is relaxed?
