His growth will depend on water and feedings. This breeder/expert I do not know where some of them come up with there statements thinking that there is only one answer one experience. But the fact is I have seen them 12 to 20 plus inches in a 100 gal tank.

Their growth will be extremely fast under optimum conditions, which is what every fish keeper should provide to their fish. I'm not quite sure if you just suggested that purposely stunting or starving a fish so it doesn't grow "as fast" would be right, if so you should never be allowed to keep any fish at all.

lol you said it bud I always hear people saying that "under good water conditions" I would also think most people would have a good established tank with bacteria and good filtration. who would want a tank full of algae never waterchanged and so cloudy you cant see the fish lol.

Yea, because you have 2 dovii around 3", you are the know all end all expert now, right?:screwy:

You cant sex them the way you say AT ALL like that at 2-3"....depends on their race (nic, CR) diet, tank conditions etc....and the spotting is in the unpaired fins on males.

Can get bigger than 16" in captivity and a 180 isnt really sufficient...probably what would be considered a bare minimum.

And if "people that dont keep them" start chiming in about them needing a bigger tank, then they know more than you, the expert 3" dovii keeper.

Lose the attitude, read up more on the fish you have and then, maybe, you wont sound like such a tool, kid.

Think you REALLY need to watch what you say to people you dont know. The internet is such a wonderful thing, it gives people the ability to say things to people that they would never say to them if they were face to face.

At no point did I declare myself to be an "expert" but I have kept various Dovii for many many years at various sizes both personally and through the shop.

So look at the pictures of my 2 x dovii and tell me that thats not a male and a female at 3" then cause judging by what your saying they are un sexable at this size.....

This forum is FULL of people who have no clue about what there doing at all.

Can a male dovii have a good life in a 180g with good feeding and excellent water quality and the answer is absolutely yes!

Would I use a 180, not for an adult no as I will always give more than is needed, but a 300 gallon tank with 1 fish in it .... eh no matey.

So if you wanna talk please feel free to pm me and I will give you my email address or phone number.

Thanks babe xxxx

I watched that video as well of the fish room. Lovely Dovii.

But are there any pics of that netted by any chance cause looking at the size of his hands against the tank I would say thats not 24" no chance.

Bulky yes and a lovely size but would need to see a side profile with something to scale against as I have my doubts!

You said it Rich people on here get so offended because they think they are the only ones with right answers. Agreed with the video he is big but dosnt really look like 24 against his hand
