Try the egg crate with a piece of slate on the females side, lean it against the glass in the back of tank and see if male will fertilize the eggs if she will lay them. it didn't work for me but thats the way to do it with big aggres. cichlids when you don't want to take chances. with the doors and dovii even though the females under the right circumstances can be frisky and back the males off under some circumstances don't let that fool you males can trap them off and kill them very quickly when motivated to do so. I haven't tried to breed anything in long time . i like a mix of cichlids and if they breed its not planned and its a real pain in the a** for my community.

haha yes that is where I got the female. I got the male @ a lfs on beltway/fuqua

Thanks, So far I moved them to a bigger tank w/ egg crate dividing them. The few times I've let them meet the female really kicks his arse...imagine that. Keep ya updated.
