Dovii vs Black nasty

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haitensis have no competition where they live, they are apex I believe. Haitensis get bloat when pushed by other fish and they are not dominate. Dovii are simply put, killing machines. There is no cichlid alive that compare to a dovii in terms of aggression. A full grown dovii will literally try to destroy a tank to get to you, to this day I have never seen anything come close to the ferocity that a dovii shows when attacking the glass, or the water siphon, or your hand, etc. haha

Ehh, I would disagree. I've seen some nasty buttikoferi, trimac, and even midas try killing anyone near their tank. In terms of overall size, sure the dovii hands down. But if size was out of the option (lets say they were all a foot long) I've seen crazier red devil/midas than dovii. Glass banging is different from fish-aggressive.

Cannot compare amphilous to a dovii. Buttis and midas are both aggressive but neither will compare to a dovii more often than not. Exceptions to the rule exist, but they simply put, don't have the speed, weapons, size or ferocity that the dovii has. IMO of course.

Let's pretend you put a 12 inch red devil vs a 12 inch dovii. The red devil already has more mass and strength. Maybe not speed, but..

I'd like to see a dovii (the same size) beat this devil. This devil isn't a inexperienced fighter, as you can see he takes heavy hits. He was introduced to the tank right away, took over it rather fast.

I've seen some extremely powerful buttikoferi too. I know a guy who lost all his fish dovii included to a butti in a 300g.

Seriously, just posting random vids is pointless.

Here is a Dovii dominating a good sized trimac. That is not the point, ask anybody here. The dovii is the most aggressive cichlid they have had. The stories are the same for the most part. I have had first hand experience with them and other amphilous and my story is the same as others. Dovii are something out of hell. That is all.
LOL

idk iv always been able to keep most fish in a relative community setting red devils, jags, because they always have that one fish that they dont bother with. But even my 1-2 inch dovii i chose out of all the otehrs has already dominated his tank taking out everythihng that moves and this is at 1-2 inches, i cant house a pleco with these guys

That trimac is not impressive at all. Could of done better, I barely see the dovii doing much either.

A true trimac would of held his own better.

You obviously haven't owned any africans :/ Check out a Hemichromis fasciatus when you get the chance.

Being the most deadly (lethal) doesn't necessarily mean the most aggressive.

There are plenty of psychotic africans that are much nastier in terms of temperament.
