DOVII vs UMBEE - the ultimate battle!!!

hey guys

i mainly want to hear from people who have kept both specimens on their own and have grown them up from juvenile to a large adult.

which one in your opinion has: more aggression, more personality etc etc

would love to hear back

Dovii in my opinion is OVERRATED!!! My Umbee is in a 1032 Gallo pond solo cause he will kill anything that is in his vicinity! I have had owned a few Dovii and never have they been the top of my tanks pecking order-and if you have a Dovii solo they are the most skittish and unpersonable fish to have.
 
like most cichlids it depends on the individual temperament. you may get a dovii/umbee who is scared of its own shadow or you may get a psycho that, no matter tank size, will kill everything purely for sport.
 
My Dovii is 4.5" and he already chases my fingers.. He's also killed 4 tankmates so now he's a solo. When he gets bigger water changes are going to be fun :D

LMAO.. while typing this my wife went to the book shelf next to his tank and he darted over towards her banging on the glass.. this little guy is going to be a brute!!
 
THEY BOTH CAN BE BAD ASSES IN TANKS I HAVE HEARD STORIES OF SUCH THINGS AS THEY WERE SAYING YOU JUST NEED TO DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU YOU MIGHT HAVE A COUPLE WITH GOOD PEMPERS AND DO GOOD OR IT MIGHT GO THE OTHER WAY JUST HAVE FUN AND STUDY UP ON THEM
