DOVII vs UMBEE - the ultimate battle!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have yet to own an Umbee, but I have a 9' female Dovii that will try to attack anything that moves. She is serving time in maximum security for attempted murder of a 10' male Jag. I also have a 3' male Dovii that is serving time for the murder of a 3' Channel Cat, and attempted murder of a 5' TSN (could be gang related). But still the most aggressive Cichlid that I have owned is a 9' male Istlantum.

Dovii in my opinion is OVERRATED!!! My Umbee is in a 1032 Gallo pond solo cause he will kill anything that is in his vicinity! I have had owned a few Dovii and never have they been the top of my tanks pecking order-and if you have a Dovii solo they are the most skittish and unpersonable fish to have.

Really?? spewin for you as every dovii i've owned and my mates have had have been absolute nutters!!! we dont get umbees down under but i've managed to get a hold of a few @1" so i'm interested to see how they are gonna go. CAN"T WAIT!!!

I have never owned an Umbee, but I have a 9' female Dovii that will try to attack anything that moves. I have a video of her on YOU TUBE trying to attack my 4 year old daughter through the glass. I also have a 3' male Dovii that is serving time in maximum security for the murder of a 3' Channel Cat, and the attempted murder of a 5' TSN Catfish (could be gang related). But still the most aggressive Cichlid that I have ever owned by far was a 9' male Istlantum. He was a fire breathing beast.:FIREdevil

I guess every Dovii I have ever had has been a wimp-maybe it's bad luck-maybe when Rapps gets me my Dovii from his tank he purposely picks the wimpiest one-LOL
But really it hasn't been just one Dovii that I have owned it has been several and they have all been dissapointments-I guess I wan't meant to have a tough Dovii-but really tough Umbees.

They are both tough fish....the only way you could see if one is truly tougher is by putting two males of the same size in the same tank, and putting in a divider to let them establish territory.
After that is done take out the divider and let em go at it.
I'm not really sure anyone wants to put their prized 20" Dovii or 20" Umbee up for experimental purposes.
I'm sure I wouldn't.

big dovii-I agree my buddy told me about this jerk on I think Youtube that has a large Dovii and gets other cichlids to fight his Dovii-from what my friend said there was an actually video of the guys Dovii killing a Midas-what a jerk!

yeah man i hate that sort of thing. i do feed my dovii hybrids but only ones he can kill in a few hits!!! the last thing you wanna see is another decent fish being 'played with' giving it a slow death.

Ive posted vids of mine before, but i think it speaks for itself!

That's fantastic...the dovii's trying to kill your cat and the cat's like "psh, whatever". Brilliant.

Looks like my old Dovii....except small.
God I love Dovii's haha.
My little male just spawned with my big female.
Nice Bengal cat, its awesome.
