Dovii vs Umbee?

my Dovii are extremely aggressive but i believe my Umbee is more aggressive than they are, he's a monster and he's growing super fast, so you should have adequate space for him, they do better by themselves in my opinion, but if you have a large enough tank house them together :) wait no, thats a recipe for TNT right there :P
 
My dovii swim all around the tank. I've never had any aggression problems w/ them. They swim up to the top corner when I get near the tank and everything. My female is more aggressive than my male. The pair is for sale by the way, :D
 
I get the feeling a Dovii or umbee will soon be put in a 75 somwhere and be fed live mice for entertainment of buddies and youtube. Untill that becomes boreing, fish ends up in a local lake and pitbulls are puchased to start a dog fighting ring. Wait....which is more agressive, a pitbull or rottie?

If it were to watch it eat stuff, I would try a Snook or P-bass!
 
You have gotten as straight of answers as you will get! Both can be very aggressive! Both may not be. As far as entertaining and eat a lot I'd say they are equal. Both get huge. If you will provide enough space (180g min for one fish), then pick the one YOU think looks best! Personally, my midas is the most entertaining fish I have, and my male convict is the meanest. I personally don't think size is all that necessary or impressive. I would love either an umbee or a dovii, but I'm thinking I'll start with a mini dovii (grammodes) when I have the chance.

People like YOU are the reason so many great fish are banned for the rest of us that actually care about their fish. It's because of people like this that fish are dumped into drainages and the next "piranha" pops up and scares all of the retarded Americans into thinking it's going to eat their dogs and children. How about you quit looking for the answer you want, and start listening to the helpful information trying to be given in this thread. These fish grow huge, require huge tanks, optimum care and water quality are a must.
 
I have an 18" male Dovii, glass banger is not appropriate for large Doviis. There more like a Sledgehammer on glass. They hit so hard that I wont take a chance, it might break glass or hurt themselves.
I would go with Doviis, since it not expensive and looks more menacing than Umbees.

Nothing like watching a dovi attack some massivore prepared food. Because I am sure an advanced hobbiest like yourself would never feed live food to one of these magnificent fish.
