I don't know about that as the oath is not actually law is it?I will take on the role of the Devil's Advocate. Im not judging Kevorkian, but what about his violation of the Hippocratic oath? That in itself allows for his license to be revoked.

He signed papers,as in the terms of his early release, That he would no longer assist in suicide or use his death machine again...

That ... is ... awful ....we just had an assisted suicide law passed in Washington ...I think its about time we let people take there own lives...and deaths in to there own hands...who is a Doctor or any one else to tell someone they HAVE to live..and suffer threw something that is killing them.
I watched my aunt suffer threw 12 yeas of cancer that spread from her breast to her liver..to every thing and finely her brain...she died screaming in pain literally, her children could here her from the waiting room. People should be able to chose when they go.
I'm a bit on the fence with this guy
Seems like a nice guy and to many what he did was wrong but at the same time, some consider him a hero to those he helped commit suicide.
When a Dr tells you, sorry there's nothing we can do for you but we can give you this to help ease the pain. Then you get shot up so much you are hardly there anymore until you slowly end up dying one day.
if i'm the one with pancreatic cancer and i'm gonna die anyways, who's to tell me not to get it over with and suffer thru it until i die
one of my bros father in law passed from pancreatic cancer and it is one of the most brutal cancers if not the most brutal. you suffer the whole time before you die. he was shot up with morph the whole time, he was long gone before he finally passed
The Washington Death with Dignity Act, Initiative 1000, codified as RCW 70.245, passed on November 4, 2008 and went into effect on March 5, 2009. This act allows terminally ill adults seeking to end their life to request lethal doses of medication from medical and osteopathic physicians. These terminally ill patients must be Washington residents who have less than six months to live.
Under the Death with Dignity Act, the Department of Health collects information from healthcare providers, reviews this information for compliance with reporting requirements, contacts the healthcare provider if the information is incomplete or inadequate, and produces an annual statistical report. The information collected from healthcare providers is not a public record and will only be released as summarized data in the annual statistical report.
