Yepp...How big were they?

I set up my 45g brackish almost purely so I could get one of these. I also like puffers but the baby figure 8 I had died before I'd even gotten the violet goby and I haven't replaced it.
He's got a piece of slate leaning on the front for a cave that he sits or buries himself in often (black sand). Recently he dug out a decent pit under the driftwood and he spends a lot of his time under there now. He LOVES to tear pieces of algae off the driftwood and eat them and knows the moment the turkey baster hits the water! He props himself up and waits for the food.
The other fish in the tank are a bushynose pleco, 3 bumblebee gobies, a flame gourami, and river shrimp. The violet goby will let the bumblebees and the pleco hang out in his caves all they want but lunges at the gourami and any shrimp that try to come in.
I find him quite interesting, usually hiding but occasionally exploring or swimming and once in a while he sticks himself halfway up the glass with the bumbles for a bit. Even when he hides though, he peeks out a lot to see what's going on.

They are a very nice fish.. the main thing when you get them is to feed the well.. once they are eating good...blood worms etc.. they thrive... need brackish water though no matter what LFS says or they won't last. They have a big mouth but swallow only very small things... also they can over eat too.. so just give alot of little small feedings and once established back off on the food a bit..

i have personally seen a dragonfish kepy totally in marine water its whole life and it was well over 50". Believe or not. it still shocks me. could have eaten a mouthful of golfballs.

ADD: it was also kept in a very large tank. custom made. was well over 200 gallons.

Ahem, where was this...pics would help. Perhaps you are confusing it with some other species? 50 cm would be more accurate, as it's the maximum length recorded for the species...

2 of those don't belong in BW at all.

I just picked up one of these guys for free because a friend had no idea what they were doing. Since I have a brackish for my gsp I figured I'd see if they get along. Its been 24hours and everyone seems happy, I have a back up already cycled if things go sour. But I've been cutting up night crawlers and tossing them in there and he LOVES it, puffers too. Hadn't really tried anything else yet.

I'd be concerned that the GSP will pick on it. Be sure it has plenty of hiding spots.

Yeah, I figured they might too, but its been really peaceful so far. I've been keeping a close eye on everyone. I know they are nippy little buggers, but they don't seem to bother him, yet...

i just got one tonight at wallmartyfart. $6.oo. i put him in my 185 is the tank to big? he is in with my Oscars.& two jacks tomorrow.
