Just wondering how many people have heard of/own/have owned these guys. If you don't recognise the name, try Japanese Dragon Fish, Amazon Dragon Fish, Violet goby, or Dragon Goby. They're amazing fish and they're not well-known. It's a shame.

I'll show you my lol young one (bout 8.5in) as soon as i get pics.
 
I had one of them, they are nice. I wouldnt say they are for a community tank, they have their own water parameter needs IE PH, slightly brackish.
The one i had got mouth fungus and I couldnt save it.
My brother got one for his tank, and I saved it from death, and 2 months later it died from fungus too.
Shrimp pellets appear to be a faveorite, make sure they get fed @ night and dont have to compete for food. their eyesight sucks.
 
I've heard of them, and they're a brackish water fish...really cool and prehistoric looking. They need a 55 gallon tank (I hear)

The one's we see at Wal-mart always look so depressed, and I would love to bring one home, but we really don't have the room for it!! :(

No, he eats fine. He eats whatever the other fish don't get. And that's actually a lot more fod than you would think.

They are TECHNICALLY brackish, but mine does fine in freshwater, even in a community tank, and even with small fish like harlequin rasboras. He doesn't attack anyone in the tank, unless the ADF annoys him. they do need at least about 55 gal when full grown, but mine's got to a little under 10 in in a 16 gal. I KNOW ITS SMALL! don't worry. We're transferring to my uncle's 100 gal around Christmas when they move to arizona.
 
I can tell you I have one right now. It has gained some weight since I got it and looks very healthy. It eats ONLY bloodworms. I keep it in with my knives and a 12" +/- silver. It tends to hide a lot during the day but is always the first one out for feeding time.
 
I had one a few years ago. He lived about a year, he ate ghost shrimp that i bought, adn some small guppies. Also ate the shrimp pellets, mine seemed to be a hog. and ate alot. i was told to put him in a freshwater tank becasue that was what he was accustimed to. so that is prolly why he died mysteriously. but he was one neat fish, he would even come up to see me and take pellets from me. I ogt him when they first started selling him at the lfs around here. i was surprised at how nice he actually was.
