well i had my Dragon Goby in my full marine tank for a month and he woulnt move...I would have to with an infant seringe full of blood worms, and his color wanst looking good either. so i stuck him in my fresh water tank and now he is very vibrant and active at night and eats the feeder fish on his own....should i leave him there or should i buy another tank and make the water Brakish? ive heard that Dragon Gobies thrive in Brakish is this true?

I recently rescued one from a friend's tank, and I've had a hard time finding reliable info as well. He's been in my 55g FW for 2 weeks now, and is active, alert, and eating well. I had heard that they won't touch a fish unless it is dead or dying, and they are filter feeders. I'm confused, someone enlighten us.:nilly:

I did look them up but didnt find much or at least not enough............Bump

As mentioned earlier, the Dragon goby is a highly adaptable species that can live in freshwater and marine aquariums even though it is a brackish species. The same is true when it comes to alkalinity, hardness, nitrate and nitrite as well. Brackish, alkaline water is recommended for this fish, but it will adapt to many other water conditions as long as the fish is exposed a gradual change and not a dramatic one.

I see that in most of the sites I checked, I think we'll be ok..

Another thing that occured to me-are they all WC? If so, they have survived being plunked into FW and shipped all over, so with good care they should be alright..

those Dragons are sooo thin. Mine started in fresh then to brackish now full marine. the salinity that they need is 1.010 on a hydrometer. They eat frozeb blood worms ,flakes, brine shrimp. The reason they look like they have sharp teeth is because they scrape algae off of rocks and so forth. They eat algae also. If you group them together and there is more than one male they will fight like most gobies do.

Thank you! Yours is beautiful!

I'm thinking I may need a seperate brackish tank for him, he does need to fatten up a bit. What is their growth rate?

when I first got him he was about 5 inches. I have had him for 10 months and he is over a foot long. I used to have two but he beat the cr-p out of the other one so I gave the other one away.
