Dream down the drain

Why the hell would a neighbor complain about your tank???

That makes 0 sense. It's in YOUR apartment. They don't have to look at it, hear it, clean it, and have nothing to do with it. I'd be having further conversations with your landlord.

I'd be banging on doors and inquiring as to who it was if I were you.

People need to mind their own business.

Why would a neighbor even care? It isn't like its going to be barking during the day?? Why would a neighbor have any say at all, it doesn't affect them - not even a little. The only way a neighbor would be affected by a fish tank is if you weren't on the first floor and the tank leaked - leaking water to the apartment below yours.... but with a new tank, that is pretty slim chance unless it gets broken... my money is on the neighbor below you. Should have brought it in at like 1:00AM ;)

My apartment complex said I could have as many tanks as I wanted, no size restrictions, as long as I could provide proof that my renters insurance covered water damage. Which, they do and I did.

Now I hope all the people who were talking smack feel at least a little bad. Kind of one of those things of talking about somthing that you don't know what your talking about. Sorry for your luck buddy.

Hello; I hope my posts did not fit this description. If anythingI posted was in any way bothersome, I apologize.

^^^FYI.....It's a public forum. You don't need to say hello in each post. It's not a letter. Just type what you have to say. And no need to appologize for having an opinion. Again, it's a public forum. That's what it's for.^^^

And I still really don't get how a neighbor could have ANY say in this matter. Sounds like your landlord is just a pushover and says yes to whoever raises the biggest stink (your neighbor).

This is why you get it put in the lease(in writing)...that way no matter how big a stink is made, you have legal documentation protecting your rights as a tenant.

Hello; Perhaps the landlord changed his mind and used a phantom neighbor complaint as a ploy to stop the setup of the tank. Having things in writing is good in most cases. I was burned badly because I did not get an agreement in writing. I also rented for many years with good results on a handshake.

Dude this totally sucks. and its BS they said the 60 gal was bigger than they thought. the only thing they should be worried about in size is the weight of it if its on a 2nd story. :bs:

This is why when I rent it is bottom floor only. I ask if tanks are allowed and that is about it. I am not the best example of what a renter should do when it comes to pets (I do make sure there allowed though). I do suggest renters insurance as well - you can usually get it pretty cheap (it was $10 for up to 100k at the last place I rented at). I tank mishap is not fun if it does damage.

That absolutely sucks to hear...

As for the person who said a 60G isn't that big... we also must remember, we on this forum are used to people having tanks that are just exceptionally large for the most part... where as most non-fishkeepers probably think a 25G is a big tank...
