Driftwood vs Bare tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes and stated above, its for the fish, not you. Your lucky enough to enjoy captive pygos, Atleast give them the little comfort you can....now when their adults and 8" then I can see bare tank because their less active, and even then I personally wouldn't do it!

Also looks way better and way more natural! You already sold you wood tho :(

Thanks for the informative opinions, I really appreciate it. My intent was to have my 11 x 4.5-5.5" Pygo natt.(125g) become more active instead of always relying on the covers. Like some said, their personality do change with age, and behavior does confirm it. They are more outgoing and when feel intimidated, they "try" to stand their ground rather than go straight under the dw. Plus like F1, I should that driftwood set... lucky the shoal has adjusted well. I wanted more flow + space for those killers to grow and get out of their shells quicker. I personally enjoyed the first setup better but the fishes seem to be having fun with all that space.

I guess it also depends on the type of fish your housing. If I had a cichlid community tank, the dw would lood extremely nice. But the dw pieces were taking up way too much space for 11 red bellies piranhas... They need an upgrade soon too :swear:

Yeah my shoal of 5 in my 125 looks tight. Couldn't imagine 11 Bro. But really some dw doesn't take up that much space, and if you want them to breed they need to feel comfortable and have hiding spots. Guess I got lucky with my dw.

I loved your dw!

Those fish need a 210.
I like the open bottom look with plant at the top and tall plants throughout. Looks natural that way. If you painted the back it would hide the tubing and such better and the fish would calm down some...also, a powerhead from one direction will give them a current to swim against.
