thanks for the info, i know it has not been alive for a while. im now just worried about the smell, or the extratives that ian mentioned. i think it had been under water for a long time, but the lakes are so low around here that it dried out for a while. im going to try pdbrady's method and just see how it turns out. if it looks like its not working i'll take it out. we'll just have to see.
 
That piece is really nice. I think it's hilarious that you guys took the whole tree home. If all else fails break the stump off and use it as part of your lawn landscaping in your flower beds.

haha for sure, it was too much work getting that thing home, so i think we're just going to give it a shot.
 
i found a piece before and let it soak in a bleach water solution for 2 days then i baked it for 4 hours on 300. mine was definetly ceader ad it worked for me i kept it with cichlids. so thats what i would oh and make sure it doesnt smell like bleach before you put it in
