really bringing back an old thread.... but that piece is still in the same tank, will still float really hard if allowed to, and i haven't noticed any strange fish fatalities. so take that for what its worth on cedar in aquariums
 
Since the thread has already been resurrected I'd just like to add that you have a very good friend. Towing anything in a kayak is exhausting much less a tree.
