Running carbon in your filters will help remove some of the tannins, otherwise upping your water change schedule will dilute them more too.

You just have to wait it out and make sure to do your water changes it will help. It's worth it!

I have some Mopani as well as Malaysian in my tank, it doesn't leech much at all.

What's wrong with tinted water??? U think river water is 100% clear? So what if it leaches tannins a few months??! Its natural and ur fish will appreciate despite what u think

The mopani wood turned my tank poop brown within a few days even after soaking for months. I assume he's having the same problem I did. A little bit of color is alright but this was just nasty and the wood made the water smell funny. I'd do a 50% water change but it would be back to brown the next day.

Which was ashame because it was beautiful. It was a very large piece though, which is probably why I had so much trouble.
