I have drilled quite a few tanks so I got that part no problems there.
I am thinking of putting together a fry rack with a central sump filter. I was going to use ten gallon tanks from Walmart, for me this is the cheapest option.

Does anyone know if the tanks from walmart are tempered or not? Can they be drilled?

Every 10 gallon I've ever run across in 20 years of being in the pet industry has not been tempered.

Thanks. The tanks are like 12 bucks so im just going to buy a few and give it a shot, guess I will find out pretty fast if its going to work.

Never tried but from what I've read since the glass is so thin they are prone to cracking. Keep the pressure as light as possible. Luckily they are cheap enough that if you Crack one it's no big deal.

If they do crack just take it back and say it was already cracked lol
Jk

My first time drilling glass was on a 75. Amazed nyself. I went on to drill my other tanks and then my 120. I was 9 for 9 untill a ten gal. Took me three 10 gal tanks, even then it cracked so I then reinforced it with plexy glass. Im so afraid to move my equipment.

Never again for me, if that helps

I mean never

I've heard of the same issue as Santa Fe Discus Santa Fe Discus had. Drilling it if you know what you are doing isn't an issue, but because the glass is so thin and pipes must be supported by something other than the tank glass or it will crack.
