Best thing to do is try on a scrap piece of glass. I actually have hole saws down to 3mm for small stuff.

buy a holesaw. they can be had for like $12 on amazon or ebay.

instead of drilling my tank I used a double syphon to feed my sump tank. It has worked with no issues for the last 14 months.

Those are carbide tipped bits, you really need to go diamond.
