Drip System - chloramine

So did you have 2 sediment filters and 3 carbons? Or... ?

Also, how long would the filters last before you needed to switch out your filters?

3 sediment, 5 carbon, 2 RO, 3 DI

I wasn't running a continuous drip but filling a 55 gal barrel ahead of time for water changes. I had to change maybe twice a year.

It eventually became too much trouble and I switched to using dechlorinator (but still testing chlorine for each batch of water).

Wowza that's a lot of units. Any particular reason you included the RO/DI as well?

If I was doing a continuous drip then I would seriously consider leaving out the RO/DI.

The DI was to remove the ammonia left over from the catalytic carbon splitting the monochloramine.

So without DI there would be some ammonia. And without RO, DI would be exhausted quite quickly.

I had a booster pump, too, which increased flow rate which required more carbon.

Just create your own via that link that was shared. I bought the individual units from BRS and they have carbon that removes both chlorine and chloramines. I run one sediment and 2 carbon filters. Life of the filters will depend on how much chlorine and chloramine your water company uses, plus how much you drip. I’ve been changing out every 6 months.

Also, I was concerned about the extra ammonia from the drip but I over filter so it hasn’t been a problem.
