Depends how picky you are about gallons per day and all that. If you want to have an exact amount per day going into your system, you'll need a regulator and emitters. Ive done it without regulators in the past. Guess I'm getting to where I want everything perfect now days. For me, the best part of the hobby is building stuff and having it all work perfect! Not really necessary, I'm sure my rays could care less!
