Thank you. Which regulator did you get?

The cheap home depot irrigation style ones will work. Before the manifold is best. I got a whole house regulator for the main water supply to my home. $140 if memory serves correct. I do not run the irrigation style regulator and just use essentially what you have now plus emitters.

Is the whole house regulator adjustable or fixed?

What purpose is served by adding a regulator?
For the emmiters? I'm on the hunt for a really good water valve for fine adjustment.

A regulator will keep the water pressure below a certain threshold. A valve only restricts flow, it doesn't regulate or reduce pressure. If you have high water pressure and run 1/4" tube and emmitter, it can actually blow the drip emmiter right off as the pressure builds up behind it. Even with a valve cranked way down, the pressure will build up to whatever your main water pressure is.

Also, a regulator gives you consistency. Your household water pressure fluctuates as water is used throughout the house. The regulator keeps the the pressure at a constant level.

Oh ok, so the regulator is used because you are using emmiters. Gotcha. But why not just use a good valve to adjust flow and kibosh the emmiters?
