is it because the author has inline opinion with yours so you post that article..how bout the 1001 articles out there that never say anything about 'head trauma" that you forgot to mentioned?
taken directly from the article:
The following is the list that I’ve collected as proposed causes:
1) The eyes become “stuck” due to looking down for food.
2) Fat deposits behind the dorsal orbits of the eyes.
3) General poor nutrition.
4) Inbreeding depression.
5) Mechanical trauma.
6) High general stress levels in the fish.
7) Over-exposure to light.
8) Keeping the fish in tanks with clear sides.
9) Mycobacteriosis – fish tuberculosis.
In my opinion, numbers 5 and 8 cause the problem in most, if not all of the fish that I have had direct experience with. In fact, these two causes are actually related to each other; droop-eye seems often to result from mechanical damage when the fish runs into the sides of the tank or the lid.
its just the author opinion and it might be inline with yours but dont make sense to me..here it is the reason why it dont makes sense atleast to me:
1.there is no fish that run to any side or top portion eyes first. safe to assume anything in head part will be their mouth first. they will have eating problem or broken mouth/jaw or scratch skin on head portion first before it "dislocate" eyes socket.
2. have you seen a fish swim so fast and hard it hits the tank's wall that hurts themselves? i have seen a cartoon flick but not real life fish doing it.
3. silver arowana do jump..but what hurt them is not his head hitting the top of the tank, the water and the top of the tank is way too close to do any harm..it just dont have the velocity to do any harm (think of a bullet fired by a gun versus hand thrown bullet) but the impact fall to the floor and lucky u if u catch it in time before it becoming dried fish.
4. eyes hold by muscle and nerve hence freely move to look up, a front and rear or in between.. and muscle can turn into fat when not used.
charles darwin scientist/naturalist/biologist and is much respected person than that author but do you think we really is evolved from monkey as his opinion/theory and we supposed just accept it automatically and just buy it without further study or analyze?
just food for thought.
i think the number 5 do plays in factor as well but its not the solely reason, it is because of the pain the fish has to endure in the head section he has to relax the muscle on the affected area and it collect fat since it has to relax it for good amount of time..by the time it dont feel the pain the fat built up and preventing it from using it normally. and that theory is only applied to 1 of the eyes dropped..now how bout the 2 eyes dropped like 80% of aro out there?
so whatever ur theory/opinion is valid since they all is like chain reaction and its and somehow connected one and another and picking up 5 and 8 is like the darwin theory of the monkey..it needs further study.
again its just an opinion of mine
