drop eye surgery???

I would suggest you post up your questions on the video site in hopes of getting the real answers....

From what I see, the first video shows them adding anesthetic and stress coat. Slow addition until it goes out. Medication looks like M222 since it seems water soluble (they dont mix it much once they have dissolved in the smaller bottle)

The other videos show some fin ray cuts and removal of fatty material behind the eye to return the eye back from Drop Eye. (Gill Curl is another condition operated on ). Some rays get bent or may grow un-uniformly so they are cut and sometimes even shaped for cosmetic reasons. Since cutting just a small area results in different regrowth, they usually cut a slightly bigger area so regrowth is more uniform and less obvious.

Last video just shows the fish coming out of anaesthetic.

??? Is that what you were after??

Don't go there

dont go where?

they're basically just cutting and nipping at the fins to make the fish prettier. so... no drop eye, and more volume on the fins after regrowth!

Accept the fish for what it is- putting the aro thru unnecessary surgical procedures for the sole benefit of cosmetic enhancement is not ethical. Humans do it, does not mean it is OK for fishes, just my opinion.

I wouldn't say that it is purely cosmetic. If captive aros get de, then it is the least the human can do to fix it. It is like the killer whales with the curved dorsal fin. It isn't ok for the whale to go thru life with a deformity because he is captive. It is equally wrong (IMO) for an aro to go thru life with a handicap that was caused by humans, especially when they know how to fix it. If they are capable of fixing it, then I say go for it.
