Not sure about other fish, but i know all arowanas could get dropeye. Though it seems asian aros are less prone to drop eye than others.

when an arowana gets dropeye, does it have impaired vision? also, can other fish get drop eye?

they do not have impaired vision unless and untill you feed them high fatty foods like feeders. It is known that if there is too much food in an arowanas diet, the fat coagulates around the eye, increasing the drop eye and ultimately affecting its vision.

bottom line: do NOT feed feeders, I feed hikari fish sticks for mine.

also, if you want your aros drop eye to go away, you can put him/her in a pond, it will naturally heal.

Most will disagree with diet. What happens if ya feed feeders to an arowana in a pond:screwy:

One of my silver aros, which I raised from a fry and was never fed and feeder goldfish or other "fatty foods". It made it to 18" with no signs of DE. While transferin for on tank to another the arowana went crazy slamming itself into the side of the tank several times. Within hours of being place in the new tank the DE was present in it's right eye.

Four to five months later the aro was about 23" and in a 180g tank with another 25" silver. While cleaning the tank both aros became spooked and trashed throughout the tank. Later that evening it was appearent that the silver now had DE in it's left eye also. There is no doubt in my mind that the repeated head trauma that silvers experience while being kept in tanks leads to DE.

Lol, that doesn't work. I dont think you should even try it if your arowana is big enough to swallow it or you'd be screwing yourself over.

this site has debunked the ping pong ball myth:grinno:
anyway, I dont own an arowana, im 13 and my parents think I should be satisfied with two 5g tanks so...Arows are a LOOONG way off:(
If you look at a Mosquitofish long enough it can start to look like a scaled-down Jardini or Leichardi tho:headbang2:ROFL:;)
