DSLR Camera Question??????'s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I completely agree on the above posts. I handled an Rebel XTi and it just feels too "plasticky" or flimsy for that matter. the entry level Nikons seem to have a better build feel. On the higher end cameras though its completely different. But it does boil down to preference and which one feels right. Although on the higher end cameras I might side with Canons... might.

Check out the D2x, D300, and yes, the D700..........NUTS

I just paid $500 for my XTi with 18-55 lense and battery grip. If you look around there are plenty of good deals out there.

If ever I upgrade, it will be to a D300 which costs a pretty penny.

what about nikon d40x???

Great camera, but again, your choices of aftermarket, used, and even nikon lenses will be limited and expensive.
I don't want to turn you away from them, they're great cameras, but the autofocus lens selections sucks at this time.

I wouldn't go lower in the line that a D70s, and the D80 is probably where I'd start, if I was to start over.

You can also find some sweet deals on the D200 which is still really new technology. The price on those bottomed out when the D300 came out.

edit: I just noticed your budget again. Look for a D80 with low shutter actuation count.

well steer me in the right way nikon what?? besides the 80.....

D80 would defo be the best place to start.

D40, D40x, and D60- as stated don't auto focus on older nikkor lens's, Some of mine happend to be my favorites (i prefer the sharpness of my old 180mm to my brand new 70-200mm.) Auto focus is not required for all photography, but will be a major MAJOR asset after you get into it after awhile.

That would be the best choice if you decide to stay with the current nikon DSLR models (you could get an older D50, D70, D70s)

But as Chaitika stated, you would be best to stay with at least a D80.

i'm picking a D700 up at the end of the month, so i'll tell you camera guys what the D3/D300 hybrid is like. Pumped for the FX sensor...
