Dumb LFS

the fish shop does a order every 2 weeks the piranhas would have been ordered at the same time as their other fish... not one box by far thank you very much

Wow, so the LFS is dumb for not ordering a pair of 2" piranha for you???

Let me break this down for you, fish come by the "bag" or "box". Unless the fish are huge or expensive, these pack sizes are large...it is not worth it to pay 150-200 bucks per box to ship small quantities of cheap fish. This means your LFS will likely have to order a minimum of 10 and likely several dozen piranhas so you can take two.

Also, orders need to be a minimum size, so they can't just bring in one box, it's pointless...you have to wait for an order to come up, which may take weeks or months.

Then how do they ever have piranha? thats all bunk. The turth is they just sound like douchebags. There is no way they are paying 150$ in shipping to get thier fish or they wouldnt be able to sell them. They coulda just said we will order so me with our next big order and will call you when they come in. Not doing so is just poor customer service. I never patronize a business again if they tell me NO to any reasonable request....In this economy with people being able to order their own items online so easily, there is no room in business to not go out of their way to offer you some sort of service......baby redbellies cost 5$ at my lfs, we dont live within 300 miles of any shipping port or 200 miles from an airport....They get their fish off a freight truck that comes thru every other wednesday....I bet the entire fish order costs about 60 bucks spread out over their entire order.

I went through the same thing though, even if they order some in their next order they can't order 2 tiny lil red belly piranhas. It'd be in bulk, and if there's no demand for them there....why would they take on that load? Within 2 months they'll have 3-4 inch piranhas that are already gonna need a bigger tank or have just flat out eaten each other because they're in a small pet store tank. So as a business, it's reasonable for them to say they cannot fill that order.
 
the thing that bugs me was i was a few hours late for one order (okay fine my fault) so they told me in 2 weeks we are putting out our next fish order and we will order them in and you will have them thursday, so tuesday the day of the order i got the money ready to pay and they say they wont do it....


im on piranha-fury checking it out i will most likely order from there
 
i had a lfs that had an overstock of rbp's. they had so many that they started a for one sale. piranahs can become expensive for an lfs that is not moving them. they become expensive inventory. maybe your lfs does not have a large market on piranah. maybe they're not in demand. if he orders a bagful, it might hurt his return on investment. i'm not sure your lfs guy is dumb just because he won't order 2 for you. we have to look at things from his perspective. he's a small business trying to survive.

Please don't tell me how/why LFS order fish, I've worked in them for 10 years and have spent many years ordering fish. If you don't believe the 150.00/box charge, check the $/kilo freight rate for international flights...shipping an order frequently costs 2 to 3x what the fish do...

Don't order from them! I bought a 6inch Blue Diamond Rhom and it barely measured 4inches and had a chimple!
 
too late i already ordered 4 reds from jungleboogie

im not a chronic complainer about 2 inches...
most petstore rhoms have chimple.

Yes, I too sometimes sell items to customers that cost less then the shipping thats not the point.....at some point that store sells piranha...or african cichlids.... they sell them for normal price at those times....like under 10$. baby red bellies here for instance cost 6.55 each. How can they sell them for 6.55 if it costs them 150$ in shipping? Im guessing if my lfs sells them for 6.50 they are paying about 2$ each for them.....If that store cant figure out how to get him 2 2$ fish ...with their next order they just suck. Sounds like they just dont want to sell piranha, or they could have just said...we'll order up a batch, come in next wednesday (the day it is here) and pick out 2 you like.

Our fish come every wednesday morning on a freight truck. By 3 oclock you gotta get there and pick out the best ones. If you tell them by 5 oclock on the previous monday they will have anything added to the order.
 
I just shipped a single large box across Canada, it cost 75 bucks. Now imagine shipping it from Southeast Asia...

If you don't believe me about the box cost, simply pick an airline and ask them their freight charge...importing from overseas is expensive. Getting fish from local wholesalers doesn't cost extra freight, but the shipping cost is factored into the cost of the fish, making them much more expensive.

Don't tell me it doesn't cost a pile to ship fish, unless you can provide a quote for shipping that backs up your opinion...
