DVD stack as filter media?

Be wary of using this. When I was a lot younger, I had a bunch of crap in the trunk of my car. One being a binder cd case. I hardly ever went into the trunk so I didn't notice a leak in the sealing. Water had collected in the lower areas of the trunk. When I eventually found it, the entire cd case had been under water and the cd's labeling had started to come off. When I went to pull one of the cd's out, their were flakes of labeling everywhere.

I would suggest soaking one of the cd's for a good length of time to make sure this doesn't happen to you. You definitely don't want that stuff getting into your tank.

Sorry about the double post. That has been happening to me lately and I can't seem to figure out why.
 
These DVD's have no label. I'm pretty sure that was discussed somewhere on page one or two. The face is etched and the media is in the center, sandwiched between the top and bottom. So water could get into the edge, perhaps, and cause bubbling and warping. I'll be running this for a long time before it goes onto a tank anyway. Thanks for the warning. :)
