A Nile Monitor is just as bad as a Caiman ...

:screwy:
I would say its sligly better because at least there is the possibility of taming him with time and pacience but its practily the same;)

Hey bro.
Read my blog on mfk.
I got one all about caring for caimen!

I'm going to expand the enclouse size that's been recommended. You're looking at a 5 foot (give or take) adult. The area for it should be 10'x20' worth of foot print. For an adult, you'll also want a big mechanical filter on the pool. It's much easier than having to dump and fill daily to keep it clean.

much more research first. crocadilians are a huge investment (time, money, space, etc.). trust me. i bought a baby gator at a show on impulse before (couldn't resist the $50 price).

ok guys
i am not buying a caiman. im buying a dwarf caiman. and i did not buy one. i did find one but i dont have my enclosure ready. again i am not buying a gator, not buying a nile croc, not a large caiman but a dwarf. yes it still gets some size but its not gonna get monsturous. now i asked for help so i wouldnt buy something i wouldnt be able to care for. But i see telling me why im wrong not how to fix it, is far more important to you guys. I want to know size of enclosure for an adult dwarf caiman. thanks for those who posted with info.

I did word some stuff wrong but alcohol will do that for you. LOL. Anyways i will get one. I am gonna start on an enclosure soon. Just would like some help on diet and enclosure styles. I know im not the only one who wants one and im sure there is people who have them. to those people, i would like help and information.

To the people who would rather insult me, and offer no help except to insult and talk down to me(you know who you are) please leave this forum alone. I dont want your negative imput. And to any Md residents Remember I the guy when you wreck your car or house burns or you fall from your roof, that saves your butt

"Insult":grinno: Man we are trying to help you ;) You see far too many caimans and other crocodilians including dwarfs endup dumped, neglected ,hill and dead because their owners dint know what they were getting themselfes into, all we wanted and Im shure I speak for all of us is that you fully undestud what you can expect from such a "pet" in terms of danger, responsability and costs. The fact that its a dwarf gives you more manuver space but not much. A grown dwarf its still a hand full with a mouth full of teeth and brute force. However if you fell that you can provide it with its life time needs and have a genuine love and passion for this animal (hope that your not getting it because it looks "cool" or another superfical reason like so many do:() then go for it. I already gave to you one of the best online caresheets, its a great starting point;)

Insult??? nah, at least I dont think it is an insult! ;)

just trying to direct you into the right path.. you get one, you dont get one, none of our business

just helping you to relief your future stress

so make the right decision! :D

thank you guys, i appreciate it. I do realise you guys want to help. trust me when i get one(and i am) i will provide the best care a possibly can afford. I plan on build a nice enclosure when i build my fish room. I will never and i mean NEVER dump any animal I have taken on the responcibility to raise and care for. I do thank you for yall's help.

I'm sorry you don't take advice very well, because I did not insult you. Calling you an idiot would be insulting you. Preventing you from making a mistake is helping.

In your original post, you said you wanted one and you're going to a reptile show. Then you asked for help on price and enclosure. That implies that you're getting one at the show but you've yet to have adequate housing prepared to accommodate your new purchase.

So, I'm offering the FIRST sound advice, which is DON'T buy one.

I'm glad you listened.

It was not you and i completely understand thank you. the show was awesome. great prices and huge selection
