Dyed Arowana?

thats mean and cruel...just another way for the aro to be in pain and have a short life.

Dyed aros have been seen, along with stuffing them with hormones, stunting them for coloration purposes, stressing them out on purpose, and also placing them in environments that makes them temporarily changed in color. Lights also play a big part when looking at fish coloration...

The reason I ask is I just got what I was assured were 'blue arowanas' and they're so vibrantly blue with none of the darker coloration you'd normally see on a blue/black. It made me think of a silver that was dyed. I've seen my fair share of dyed fish though, and all of them were spotty and fairly obviously dyed, where this looks just like a screaming blue fish. Some of it may be due to shipping stress and the fact they haven't colored up yet. Hormones maybe? They seem to have a smaller tail just like a blue as well so I'm really unsure. Hate to think I paid for a dyed silver, I'd be pissed.

Pics?

yeah i seen those they are called "Blue Silver Arowana". It is a silver that is dyed. There whole body has a blue tint to it. I think it is dumb. Its too bad they are doing things like that to a aro. Its a waste of money buying it because 1- it is not going to live long and 2- if it lives for a decent amount of time it is just going to ware off and just be a silver again.

This place here in Rhode Island had them name is Rhode Island aquarium. They are about 5" and priced at $70. They didnt look healthy they were staying at the bottem and were hardly moving at all.
