So when that Aro looses a scale it comes back as the natural color?...sad that the industry has a market for such things...:irked:

Assuming the poor thing lives that long :screwy:

i can easily see how they can tell the average fish keeper that the death of dyed fish is due to their inexperience :irked: the poor person will try again with same results - LFS makes money. Disgusting.

Some pics...definitely dyed? Let me know what you think. As for the fish being unhealthy, that is typically how dyed fish show up. However, I have seen a lot of arowanas come through my shop and these guys are in excellent health, better than the vast majority of silvers in this size range that I've ever seen. Already eating hikari food sticks and literally near-flawless scales and fins. So it's hard to see these guys going through that whole ordeal and looking this good. Maybe hormones? Any other theories?

looks normal to me.

looks like a normal silver to me

its a silver arowana. sometimes fish have a temporary blue tint due to shipping tranquilizers that are put in the water the fish is shipped in.

Yeah, it's not a normal silver. Sorry. I've seen a LOT of silvers over the years and this is not just a slightly blue tinted one. I just don't really have the camera/photography skills to show this. Plus the lighting in that tank isn't great. its pectoral fins are solid blue and the lines between the larger scales on its head are deep blue. its not just a nice iridescent blue and its definitely not from the shipping water, I know what that looks like and it wears off quickly.

Looks normal to me, maybe the light is bringing out the color more?
