Hey guys, I noticed about 2 hours ago that my smallest bala shark (about 8", maybe smaller) had gotten its fins pretty badly ripped up (most likely culprit-red belly pacu), and a few minutes ago I went to check on it, and now it's floating upside-down. Is there anything I can do to try to save it, or is it definitely going to die? And I don't know whether or not it matters, but I just did a waterchange this afternoon and added aquarium salt (to treat my aro, which may have parasites).

If you have not done so already and are able to move him to a tank with no other fish it may be a good idea

Other than that plenty of air in the tank. Sounds like it may be too late already though sorry to say :(

I don't have another tank to put it in... And yeah, I figured it probably was, but I just wanted to make sure. :(

I'm pretty sure now of their cause of death (or part of it at least): chlorine poisoning. I must have forgotten to treat the water before filling the tank after the waterchange yesterday, although that doesn't explain the missing chunks of fins or the fact that all of the other fish were fine...

Now I am only left with one surviving bala (another ~9 incher), and I'm really not sure what to do about it... I know they're supposed to be kept in groups, but I doubt the possibility of ever coming across more balas large enough to avoid being eaten by my pacu and/or arowana......

Their final measurements were 9", 9", and 7". :(

for one pacus are to aggressive to be with bala sharks or vice versa i know cause i have 4 pacus and pacus get real aggressive when crammed into a small tank pacus should be in 180 gallons+ that what two of mine are in and they are doing GREAT
