GUys i appreciate the advice! My girlfriend bought some mardel coppersafe. she was told that is was the way to go with this. anyhow i put some in there already. and i just now read ur guys' advice.
is this mardel coppersafe good?
should i still add the aquarium salt??
THANK YOU!!

>>we4weiners...
i actually bought the Fh from a private party. he had two other FH pairs. but this one he had him by himself inside a 10 gall. (he's roughly about 4")
i also purchased a female Fh from him. and she's been great. she's very territorial but overall gets along with my other fish. (she's roughly about 2")

Personally, I if you are adding Coppersafe I would still increase the temp to 84 F. Other guys might have had a lot of success with also adding salt, so may advise that too (or instead of).

I have found the commercially available white spot remedies to be quite toxic to certain species (espec tetras) - should be fine with cichlids though. The temp increase and salt should be better tolerated by most tropical species than the chemicals.

Good luck !

50% waterchange immediately and throw that bottle of Coppersafe away. The words Copper and Safe do not belong together. CopperSafe will kill any plants or inverts in your tank. The level between external parasite treatment and copper toxicity is very slim.

Im not giving you this advise for you to do what you like with it. Hex will kill a fish if not treated correctly. You are not even treating for remotely the right problem and putting yours fish health at risk even more. Why are you asking for advice, then doing the opposite to potential kill your flowerhorn? Dont let your girlfriend kill your fish.

*If CopperSafe is used with any kind of water treatment to remove heavy metals. The metal removers will break down the CopperSafe and it creates some sort of toxic coppery byproduct that most likely will kill all fish. Coppersafe is one of the worst products on the market IMO.

Opps haha. My fault. Thought this was another thread..... Keep on keepin on. Coppersafe still sucks though.

Salt + heat is much more effective and safer for the fish.

>>hamfist... LOL. Ok will do. (add salt and raise temp.) Thanks

Also, should i keep him in a tank by himself? or is it ok to leave my other fish in there?
will they be affected by the medications even though they're are healthy?

Your other fish will almost certainly have low level ich infections themselves now, so need to be treated too. So, yes, keep them all together and treat the whole tank ..... temp increase and salt.
