Dying RTC

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well all the pellets i have are to small for him they just pass through his gills and the only big pellets i can get are hikari and they are to much money so i just feed him fish and yeah if i put food in he eats it but not how he normally does normally he splashes all over that place but now he just comes up and slowly takes is from my hand

Keep up with the water changes. You want your nitrate to be around 40 ppm.

Rtc shed mucous when the water is not right or if the parameter changes a lot. Is his eyes cleared yet?

Don't do this.... I added salt with my redtail to treat ick and I almost lost her. They do not like any salt

This guy again? Don't listen to his ramblings (hes the genius in my sig).

Salt should be fine to treat them from what I have heard. Salts probably the safest form of treatment considering RTC are scaleless.

Keep doing water changes and wait until he completely recovers before moving and make sure the pond is completely cycled before moving which normally takes a month

cycling takes a month WTF i thought it took a week
do u think within that month his gill curl will get much worse???and does gill curl go away after a little while or does it just stay?????

With Gill curl it may or may not get better. IMO with your RTC hes not nearly done growing so as long as you get him in a big place soon he will recover from it! He's still got another 2+ feet of growing

k kool
just came home and frank is swimming normally and looks like he want to eat so hopefully he gets better within the next week or so
and earlier today the nitrates were at 130 and now they are at 60 getting better :D:headbang2
