got this one the other day from a LFS...he looked in bad shape. he was in with puffers....so i had to rescue him...they didnt even know what he was. although when i brought him home he had spot on his fins...they were black...which you can see a lil bit. they look like they are attached to him not like part of the skin. he is getting harrassed by the brasil and the which you guys have labeled a jurupari. im thinking if i add more satanoperca it would cut down on aggression amongst one another? is that the case?
You should be (and Weidner recommends) keeping Satanoperca in groups of 4+ per species, keeping pairs or trios will always cause the least dominant of the three to be constantly picked on. This is the case with most Eartheaters. Picking up more Satanoperca will probably help due to the very similar bodyshape I guess.
'Geophagus' brasiliensis really aren't Geophagus, and they'll be reclassified in an upcoming revision. I can't recommend keeping them with true Geophagus as they get very large, are very boistorous and will be quite aggressive.
ok i just picked these guys up labeled as jurupari...2 for 26 bucks....is that a good deal? are these in fact jurupari? my other satanoperca is messing with them but hopefully it will all even out. let me know what you think!!! i cant wait to label all these correct!!!
japes you seem to be awesome at this....by any of the pics can you identify male or female?
