Eartheaters Identify

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
man i got 2 juruparis today for 26 bucks at tropical isle....uncle neds wantes 40 a piece for the same size...

is there a price list anywhere of what should cost what...what are the most expensive common geos/satan and what are the least expensive?

thanks alot for helping me out.

i wish the fish would freaking get along...thought they were suppose to be peaceful lol....im having some aggression issues.

Ed and Japes are the pros, but my impression was that only the last post with satanoperca was Jurupari, and the rest were all leucosticta.

Re-scape the tanks and change the water. That helps in my tanks. Lately my supposedly peaceful eartheaters have been real bastards too. Not violent, but not peaceful. None of the four orangeheads are getting along with each other or the satanoperca, and the largest one, a red lip, has dug a wide shallow hole and is being very territorial about it. But two weeks ago they were all fine and I'm sure in a few weeks they'll be friends again. Things change.

lol yeah i changed scenery today and did a waterchange. and fed very healthy today. i think im gonna take some new pics tomorrow.

edburress is definitely correct with all of his identifications, just for clarification.

Post #1:

Photographs 1-4: 'Geophagus' brasiliensis or a brasiliensis complex species.
Photographs 5-7: Satanoperca leucosticta
Photograph 8: Satanoperca jurupari

Post #6:

Photographs 1-4: Geophagus altifrons (Can't tell what locale variant at that size)
Photographs 5-6: Satanoperca sp. (If it's the same fish in both shots, Satanoperca jurupari)
Photograph 7: 'Geophagus' brasiliensis or a brasiliensis complex species.

Post #16: Geophagus altifrons (Can't tell what locale variant at that size)

Now all you need to do is ditch the horrible big gravel and get them onto the sand they so desperately love - please.

ok. so 1 Satanoperca leucosticta and the rest of the satanopercas are juruparis....what makes the Satanoperca leucosticta more expensive than the juruparis?
