easiest piranha to keep

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not really a pirahna, but these fish live with pirahna. I had a small shoal of exodons in a 30g which act just like pirahna imo. If i throw in a goldfish, all 10 of them would bite and nip at it darting in and out really fast until it is dead. Pretty cool imo and is a good substitute to the big tanks that a pirahna shoal would require.

Red Bellies are definatley good beginner P's, id also recommend trying to get them on a non-meaty diet, like cichlid pellets. it makes the tank much easier to keep clean.

Ive kept a single RBP for nearly 3 years soon, and hes a prime healthy specimen. now and then i give him a treat of shrimp or fish(not live). he also eats algae flakes.

Red Belly Piranhas are the easiest to keep by far you dont need perfect water peramiters to keep reds, they would be the best for beginers cause there is more room for trial and error .:grinyes:

Piranha's are awsome healers as well.....so if there was a minor fight in the tank...most likely...they would pull thru.

what type of P's would not grow over 10 inches? and would still have some color aside from silver. i'm deciding on getting a group of P's but i don't want them too big only 5-8 inches. i like red belly but are their any other type of P's that has the red color?

yes but u gotta keep in mind that u cant really Shoal Serra Piranha...but u can Shoal Pygo Piranhas.....Pygo as in Red belly, Caribe, Tern, Piraya

some examples of serra = Rhom, Brandti, ELongatus, mannuelli, Irritans, Marginatus etc etc

and if u want a fish that wont get too big and has Awsome color....get a Sanchezi (purple form)
