Nice shots Seth. The Dragonfly pics remind me of the larvae that I saw in a tank of feeder fish at a LFS,no one there knew what it was. What did you do with the box turtle that showed up before the painted turtle?

wow. looks great. looks better than some of my breeders. makes me wish i still lived in the south.

Yeah he was a nice looking turtle. And very friendly too. I had wondered if he was someones pet that escaped. But they are native here so who knows.

Thanks. We just let it go on it's way back towards the woods. My parents Jack Russell Terrier found it out by their garden. These woods are a great box turtle habit. Lots of of old growth trees and small moist areas of ferns to hide in along with a few shallow streams. There are a few old walking paths though it. But the disturbing thing I found about it was when I was hiking though it in the fall. I found 2 dead box turtles on the trail. The one looked like it was dead for at least a year but the other looks like it had been dead for a few months. I found it odd that they were in the trail. I hope some uneducated idiot isn't out there killing them for any reason.

Yeah that would be sad but it sounds more like someone had them and dumped them there....If we were'nt so far apart I would'nt mind helping out with the cleanup.Maybe you could stack the pallets in some way so that they would provide cover for some critters....not that that is really needed in your area.

I'm happy to say that most of the pallets and leftover construction materials were removed last weekend. But I still need to mow a path down to the pond so I can back a truck down their to remove all those shingles.

Glad to hear you got the shingles out of the overflow. The pictures are wonderful. Have you noticed any racoon or other animal footprints around the dead turtles? Maybe your mom needs to "post" her property in order to protect the box turltles and other wildlife.
keep us updated on the pond and your progress!
