What is the easiest native to find? What is the biggest? Smallest? Just plain good in a tank? (No catching)

Pumpkinseeds and sculpin are really easy to find.

The easiest natives to find are those in your LFS, mostly fishes like sailfin mollies, American flagfish and of course...rosy reds (fathead minnows). You could also go to a bait shop and see what they have, it'll mostly be minnows but occasionally you find find a sunfish or darter or something.

Perch, sunfish, blue gill, northern pike, perchlets, bullhead, killifish

I'd say largest natural continent-wide distribution is for the White Sucker Catostomus commersonnii, go dipnetting in any fast-moving stream. They love the riffles that large crawdads inhabit, too. Footlong adults will school with fry and yearlings.

What the heck is perchlets?

Anyways, red rosies, fathead minnows, sailfin mollies, flagfish, ghost shrimp, crayfish, bullhead, darters, fundulus species, bait fish, sunfish and mosquitofish you can easily obtained from any place from bait store to local pet store and in the waters too.

Would I be able to find pumkinseeds in any LFS? It is too cold to go netting now. The reason why I'm asking this is because my science teacher wants to get some. We have a pond at our school with bluegills in it, but again, it is too cold for netting.

Oh yeah, Mid Atlantic natives. And no rosies!

Probably should have specified that in your first post. Unfortunately most LFS don't carry fishes such as sunfish or perch or whatever it is you're looking for. They might be able to special order something. Other then that, again try baitshops or if there is a hatchery near you try there. There are also some places online where you can buy native fish.
