I've read in multipul post of people actually cooking and eatting their overgrown fish. My question is, isn't that harmful to your health? The fish you're eatting is contaminated with the all the chemicals you put in to treat your water, fish diseases and whatever else you use. I'm quite sure many of these chemicals are not human-compatible.

better than all the other harmful chemicals which are in the fish we eat everyday. Your fish from the ocean are overloaded with mercury, arsenic, etc.

Fish which are grown in aquaculture are pumped with steroids.

etc, etc etc

well If your fish did die from ammona or ick let's say, don't eat it oddviously but if you filter your water well there should be no differance then eatin fish from your local river's and the ocean , dude If you think about it the ocean is the world's TOILET! :yuck:  it's all got to go some were..... I personaly can't do it to my fish but I have eaten wild oscar from lake okachobee in florida that , s@#t had me lookin at my oscar in a differant way! only kiding!!! it was very good no strong fishy taste but hard to tell because it was marinated . :D

True true. Would you eat a cow thats been eating mercury an arsenic contaminated foods? An who doesnt love steroids, there in most everything  .

If I ate fish Id probally be more apt to eat one that Ive watched grow an fed myself. Ive yet to eat anything that Ive hunted unless I did the butchering.

I'm sure that there is a much higher concentration of chemicals in you 50 - 300 gallon fish tanks then the ocean that covers over 70% of this planet

Last Saturday, I didn't have 100 fishermen peeing in my aquariums. They were taking care of that at the lake. My tanks have no boat batteries, lead weights, beer cans, bird droppings, dead animals, spilled gas/oil, pesticide runoff, industrial runoff, etc in them. I've eaten over 100 fish I grew out in my tanks and I'm still here. Never got sick from any of them.

Silver Aros are OK. But, corn-fed pacu is my all time favorite.

I take exception to this comment. Most aquaculture, mine included, do NOT use steroids in their stock. Aside from the fact that steroids are too expensive, there's no benefit to them. I know some farms use hormones in broodstock to induce egg and milt development but, again, this is done to broodstock and not offered to fish destined for the food market or release.

Man, if I was your younger brother or sister, I'd be living in constant fear. I'm sure your dog took up smoking, too, to calm his nerves.
