First, I've never used an EAzyPod Automatic with UV, nor even heard of it until today.
A few thoughts I had glancing at it...
- Personally, I avoid overly complicated systems. There are simply more things to go wrong to cause failure. I prefer a K.I.S.S. approach.
- It lists a max flow rate of 1,320. That appears to be the flow rate of the pump at zero resistance. Factor in head pressure (if any), plumbing, media, etc and I'd expect around 1,000 gph actual flow rate. Always ignore the "for up to X gallon pond/aquarium" ratings.
- This model pushes the water through UV, then media. That's completely backwards for UV efficiency.
I used a BioForce Pond Filter 20 years ago. I was very impressed with it.
They had UV versions, but mine didn't have it. I did use UV lights on smaller canisters though.
My BioForce did not have a backwash, much less an auto cleaning function. But it was rather simple to clean, especially if it is already outside. I used it indoors on a 300 Gal Rubbermaid. The hard part was wheeling it outside to then clean it.
*Note: The manufacturer of BioForce has been bought and sold a couple of times since I had mine. I cannot speak to the quality of the modern versions.
