I am posting this in hopes that other people don't get scammed into trying to buy his fish..

I was cruising ebay Sunday 12/26/10, and I stumpled across a listing for Gold Nugget Plecos. They were 4-5" @ $35 with $18 shipping. Well, Thursday was my fiance's Birthday, and he's been wanting this pleco for quite some time, so I decided to buy it.

My payment auto clears since I use my direct bank account.

After all the confirmation for pay, it asks you how many you want, as the guy has more than one available. I typed in 1.

Monday I messaged him through Ebay asking him when he would be shipping it, and if it was possible that I could have it by Thursday 12/30- He says, "sure, I'll ship it Wednesday."

Wednesday comes and goes, so does Thursday... I hear nothing about shipping- I emailed him Thursday morning asking him if he was shipping it, or if he had shipped it, or if I am going to have to deal with disputing this to get my money back.

I disputed the case last night when I came home from work. This morning I get a notification from ebay telling me that the seller has issued me a full refund.

His response:
""i give a full refund already sorry for the inconvenience the fish got bite up i can ship it like that.sorry"

I don't get how he couldn't ship it to me when he had more than 1 available- and even if he didn't have more than 1, he could have had the courtesy to tell me and refund instead of me having to dispute this case. So far no refund, so I'm waiting.

I would stay away. His lack of communication is non-existent.

A lot of sellers on e-bay and aquabid advertise fish for sale and don't really even have the fish. They use the money collected on the orders they have recieved to order the fish from a separate vendor. A very sad way to do business!!!!

Good for you that you got your money back and good of you to warn others about this guy but this thread would be a lot easier to read if the letters were in white instead of black on a blue background.

SOUNDS like a fraud to me. i can SMELL one from 2 blocks away.

I use to do a lot on ebay and paypal. Not anymore. I only use my credit card now. With credit card, it is working with their money not mine. So the motivation for them to straighten it out is there. Anyway, isn't live animals not allow on ebay according to there policy? I do see a lot of live fishes on there.

I don't think they mind fish, as they are more easily shippable; as per a puppy.

That sucks.....thanks for the heads-up. I have never purchased live fish from ebay. What kind of ratings did the seller have?

He had 7 ratings.. 5 from people who bought from him. He's a new person on ebay, and he did have 2 negatives. One was for slow shipping through the mail (not his fault)- the second was a refund on item for no reason.

I always believe in giving a person at least one chance; and the pleco looked good- so I figured it would be a great deal.

I don't mind that I didn't get my item. If the person would have told me he couldn't ship it for said reason; no big deal- refund- moving on- this post wouldn't exist.

But the fact that he tried to get away with taking my money; not saying a word; and never shipping an item is what makes me so mad. :irked:

Disputes aren't necessary if people are just honest about things.

Once I get my refund, he's getting a negative rating from me.

You sound like an over demanding customer. Nobody here is a "Thursday or bust" type of customer. Especially with a 3 day lead time? Give me a break. If I was the seller $18 isn't worth the headache, or a special trip to the post office. Buying fish online, or on Ebay, isn't like buying a pair of jeans. The fish may not always be in the right condition to ship, or risky weather factor come in play. The seller probably tried to ship and failed but when your subsequent email was a threat with dispute and money back, bad communication is worse than no communication.

You are probably new at buying fish online because the seller is almost always the one dictating the ship date, with plenty of lead time, to ensure the fish get there safely, which should be the seller's number 1 priority. Plenty of times I have waited over a month before receiving my fish. You may request a ship date but it's never a do or die proposition. This should belong in the lessons learned section.
