i have to agree with you that ebay will always side with buyer.. but if this is the exact thing that happened this was definitly wrong.

100% exact, buyer even left positive feedback. I still buy some items on eBay but no longer sell. I do better selling what few things I have on forums.

one bad apple would definitly hurt your selling experience especially if it happened to you right in the beginning..

Hey, if it's your $500, you can do it differently. One scam on paypal pulled on you and I would bet you'd be singing a different tune. Unbelievable anyone would criticize someone being cautious with their hard earned money.

i am not criticizing him.. i am just trying to tell him there was probably nothing to worry about in this situation.. he was paid..........the $500 was in his account.. and he still had the item... who is the one that should be worried.. i would say the buyer....

Listen to all the advice about eBay being buyer friendly. I buy and sell a lot on eBay. I've never had a problem as a buyer only as a seller. As for international shipping never again. Sold an IPhone to Russia, guy signed for it and I had all my paper work in order to prove he got it, nonetheless he claimed it was not received. I'm out $400 bucks. I have many other bad experiences selling as well. You are better off refunding the money then losing out on the money... Craigslist is better sometimes... Face to face no fees but be careful for scammers there to

well the bottom line is , he doesn't trust ebay.. and the buyer..but someone from the US could be a scammer too... thats why i quess alot of people hesitate to sell or buy on line.. it is always a chance.. but if you are a serious seller that is the chance you take.. ..

I am an ebay seller, a Power Seller. I been selling and buying on ebay for over 8 years. I have 4 ebay accounts 2 I sell with and the other 2 are just buying accounts. I've done over 7000 trans actions selling and buying on ebay. I don't sell Internationally through ebay since 2007 but I still ship Internationally anywhere buying directly from me.
The one who says they had Signature confirmation but still got there money taken back. Something is not completely true there. If I have Delivery confirmation even if buyer claims they never got it. I still get my money never have I ever lost the money when I have proof of Delivery. Have buyers still been able to get there money back, Yes but its not paid by me. Ebay will refund money if buyer cries enough but it doesn't come from the seller. Seller gets his money and ebay has refunded buyers just to satisfy them. All that is required from the seller is proof of delivery. Can a buyer return an item for refund even if seller says no returns all sale s final. Yes they can buyers can always return and an item for refund even if sellers clearly states no Returns.
In OP situation the problem with most buyers with high dollar amounts is they don't pay or take too long to pay they flake out. But this buyer paid seller got his money in his paypal account. Buyer shipping address was NJ I see no problems here. Nothing here would stop me from shipping the item. I don't understand what OP fear is. You put either Delivery confirmation or Signature for proof of delivery that is all the seller needs. where is the scam? what is the scam? OP got paid do you think cause the person had an Egypt account he must be a scammer. You don't think someone from the US can pull a scam.
But OP canceled the sale its his choice its things like this that gives ebay its bad reputation..

I sell and buy on ebay. Only issues have been one person in Taiwan not receiving a package and one US buyer who did a return. They bought an electronic Christmas ornament weekend before Christmas and claimed it non functional that Saturday. Took until Monday after Christmas for them to ship back. Item now has a broken piece and is virtually worthless. There claim is must have been damaged in shipping and that they ordered a Christmas decoration just before the holiday and then went out of town for that entire time where it would not have been usable anyway. Now I have broken merchandise and will have to refund as ebay will side with the buyer and hurt my ratings. There are scammers everywhere but that is the cost of doing business, and that's not just ebay.
