EBJD AT PETSMART!!! WHA??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You have to buy them quick before they put them in a tank full of red devils or something.

Sounds like a good deal. I was in Petsmart yesterday. They're reducing the number of tanks in their stores and will have a certain inventory rotation of specific fish from week to week.

I see them very often here at Pet Supermarket for $9.99. Who knows how well they will look as adults though. I think my wife wants to try one for her future 120gal. So I may pick when up for her then and post how it looks after a year.

I asked PetSmart about it. They said they will carry them for a few months to see how well they do. If EBJD's sale volumes are strong, they will add them permanently.

The ones at the Muncie store looked really good. Just as good as the ones I got from Cichlid Station a few months ago.

I noticed they had them too and was quite shocked. Unfortunately I just saw a tag as well and no fish. Otherwise I would of bought me up one! Next time...

Wow, that is a great deal. I would have scooped him up.

I posted about this a couple weeks back when I picked one up. Unfortunently he didn't live through a month, died this past week of unknown causes - but did live longer than the other two Petsmart had (they died within a week of me buying him). He was eating fine and grew about 1/4 inch in three and a half weeks. One day he was fine, the next I found him dead on the bottom, no signs of illness and nobody even nibbled him.
Link with a pic of him the day after I got him - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194660&page=15

$10 sounds like a great deal ... but anyone who buys one should update us in a year to see how it turned out ... with EBJDs, quality can vary widely, and the potential for deformity is fairly high ...

What kinds of deformities have you come across with EBJDs? I just want to be able to know what to look for... My two EBJDs are still on the small side at 3" but healthy so far.

i posted about this when the special buy program started a few weeks back. they got rams, EBJD's, jaguar catfish, and lots of oddball tetras. unfortunately i had the same problem with my ebjds. they are fine for about 2 or 3 weeks, and then just found dead at the bottom. both were housed by themselves with no signs of stress or anything. i suspect internal parasites. idk. to be honest out of everyone who purchased them ive only heard of 2 people that has had them survive from petsmart. one after feeding medicated food. petsmart had already lost TONS of money on these and i very much doubt they will keep them in stock after the program is up.
